About Us

As your organization’s outsourced social responsibility consultant, GOODforBusiness LLC will collaborate with you to define your giving and engagement opportunities. Together, we can match you with local non-profits and community partners, as well as measure your impact.

Marie McNamara is the Founder and President of GOODforBusiness LLC. Marie’s career began in the mid-1990’s in Marketing and Management while volunteering with various charities. (Her complete resume with links can be found below…but here’s the real story)

In 2001, she decided to exit the workforce to concentrate on child rearing.  During those somewhat foggy years, she hosted fundraisers, cheered on the underdog and followed the beginning trends in social responsibility, post 9/11.

In 2009, as her fourth child was entering pre-school, she enrolled in a course in Strategic Fundraising for Non-Profits. She felt reconnected and inspired. Two days before she was set to start, the course was canceled due to lack of enrollment.  The wind in her sails was gone.

As luck would have it, her sister-in-law introduced her to 2 women who were launching a women’s support and networking group, B.I.G. (Believe, Inspire, Grow) in New Jersey and invited her to come down to a meeting. This meeting would be the start of the next chapter of her life.

Over the next few years, she launched new chapters of B.I.G., organized monthly meetings, found expert speakers on business topics and managed the daily operations along with the HQ Team.  The connections that she made led her to her next job and ultimately creating GOODforBusiness.  Surrounding herself with inspiring people, delving into relevant reading materials and attending lectures fueled her desire to engage with socially-minded business people.

During this time, Marie continued to volunteer and run engaged fundraisers (list found below), with most of her focus at Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity.  In 2014, she was offered the position of Individual Engagement Manager for the local affiliate.  She loved her role there and she managed initiatives including: Building on Faith, Women Build, Youth United, Gingerbread Build and the annual Golf Tournament.

In the fall of 2017, Marie attended various local events which focused on social responsibility and businesses that were aligning themselves to address important community issues.  She has continued to listen and network with local non-profits, to hear and understand their needs.  She has heard from many business owners that they struggle not only to commit to financial philanthropic endeavors, but just don’t have the time to get things done. They are also paralyzed at how to measure the impact they are making.

The idea to open her own LLC was born. In February of 2018, she received a Certificate of Achievement through Penn: Social Policy and Practice in Corporate Social Responsibility: A Strategic Approach. In April, she created her LLC and here we are.

Marie McNamara lives in West Hartford with her husband, their 4 children, and dog Stella.
